A Look Into the Life of Perry Mandera

Perry Mandera, the founder of Custom Cares Charities, has always led a life centered around giving back to the community.

Probably, Perry’s work history is what led him to start a charity. In 1975, after completion of high school, Perry immediately joined the U.S. Marine as a Marine Corp. It was during this time that Perry learned how to drive a truck, a skill that helped him later in his life (http://chicago.cbslocal.com/tag/perry-mandera/).

After sometime, Perry Mandera was discharged from the Marine Corps and he immediately ventured into transportation. In 1980, he began his own transportation business which was sold in 1985.

Suddenly, Perry Mandera developed an interest in politics and in 1984, he became the Republican Ward Committeeman. That made him the youngest person to be elected for such a position.

In 1986, Perry Mandera developed another interest. But this time, the interest was unique. He wanted to serve his community better and not as a politician. He wanted to serve as a donor to the afflicted and to those who had little.

That is when he began developing the idea of starting a Charity and in 1986, Perry started the Charity and he named it Custom Care Charities.

It didn’t take long before Perry Mandera received recognition. In 2000, he was named by the Illinois Transportation Association as part of the “Top 100 American Transportation Executives of the Millennium.”

Since then, nothing has stopped Perry Mandera from giving back to his community. That can be exemplified in his dedication to serve his community as a politician, and also in the development of his Custom Companies that has its own charity.

How He’s Helped Better His Community

During the tornado-related devastation in 2013, Perry Mandera donated transportation services to aid in the disaster relief efforts. In addition, Custom companies relayed nearly 40 truckloads of supplies and food to those affected.

On the other hand, the recent California wildfires saw Perry Mandera donate transportation services to those affected. Similar to the Illinois tornado, Perry supplied food and supplies to those who had lost their homes and belongings.

Furthermore, Custom Companies participate in keeping the environment clean by reducing emissions and the usage of fuel.

Just how troublesome can sleep apnea be? If anyone knows, it’s Avi Weisfogel. A dentist turned entrepreneur, Weisfogel has been treating sleep apnea patients ever since his early days as a general dentist.

In 2010, he left his general dental practice to form a company dedicated to creating oral appliances for those who suffer from sleep disorders. Today, his keen marketing sense and passion for helping people sleep better have helped Weisfogel to create a system that servers 250 to 300 new patients a month. He’s Been teaching this system, the Dental Sleep Masters Program, for over a year and a half. His goal is to encourage more dentists, physicians and patients to adopt this model, which he believes will improve distribution of healthcare in the world of sleep medicine.
Recently, Weisfogel launched a GoFundMe campaign to benefit Operation Smile. Operation Smile serves underprivileged children worldwide who need reconstructive oral surgery. Operation Smile estimates that two billion people worldwide lack access to necessary surgical care. They seek to fill that gap by operating on deserving little cleft lip and cleft palate sufferers free of charge.
Weisfogel says that his passion for helping people led to him choosing Operation Smile as the beneficiary of his GoFundMe campaign. “Operation Smile believes every child deserves exceptional surgical care and all children deserve to be treated as if they were our own,” he says. “They make sure every child knows that no matter what life throws at them they’ll always have hope.” Avi Weisfogel operates out of Old Bridge, New Jersey.
