Perry Mandera, the founder of Custom Cares Charities, has always led a life centered around giving back to the community.
Probably, Perry’s work history is what led him to start a charity. In 1975, after completion of high school, Perry immediately joined the U.S. Marine as a Marine Corp. It was during this time that Perry learned how to drive a truck, a skill that helped him later in his life (http://chicago.cbslocal.com/tag/perry-mandera/).
After sometime, Perry Mandera was discharged from the Marine Corps and he immediately ventured into transportation. In 1980, he began his own transportation business which was sold in 1985.
Suddenly, Perry Mandera developed an interest in politics and in 1984, he became the Republican Ward Committeeman. That made him the youngest person to be elected for such a position.
In 1986, Perry Mandera developed another interest. But this time, the interest was unique. He wanted to serve his community better and not as a politician. He wanted to serve as a donor to the afflicted and to those who had little.
That is when he began developing the idea of starting a Charity and in 1986, Perry started the Charity and he named it Custom Care Charities.
It didn’t take long before Perry Mandera received recognition. In 2000, he was named by the Illinois Transportation Association as part of the “Top 100 American Transportation Executives of the Millennium.”
Since then, nothing has stopped Perry Mandera from giving back to his community. That can be exemplified in his dedication to serve his community as a politician, and also in the development of his Custom Companies that has its own charity.
How He’s Helped Better His Community
During the tornado-related devastation in 2013, Perry Mandera donated transportation services to aid in the disaster relief efforts. In addition, Custom companies relayed nearly 40 truckloads of supplies and food to those affected.
On the other hand, the recent California wildfires saw Perry Mandera donate transportation services to those affected. Similar to the Illinois tornado, Perry supplied food and supplies to those who had lost their homes and belongings.
Furthermore, Custom Companies participate in keeping the environment clean by reducing emissions and the usage of fuel.
